At C3 Flooring we use Callidus software enabling radically reduced estimating, planning and installation costs, producing savings that can be passed onto the customer.
The Callidus system takes information from site measurements, scaled floor plans, AutoCAD and scanned drawings to calculate almost all the information required for flooring installations.
The information created by Callidus in the form of printouts, PDF files or Callidus files can be shared with our clients, enabling them to see where we have allowed for each different type of floor covering that is to be installed and what the net and gross quantities will be to cover the areas.
Here is an example of one of our more complex estimations:
Client: Wates Interiors
End User: TUI UK
Specification: To split the overall floor space into three zones, Urban, Equatorial and Temperate, each zone has its own repeat pattern using three different colours of 50x50cm carpet tile per zone. Seven colours were used for the three zones plus one colour for the oval shaped meeting areas. There were also two different materials used in the tea points.
We were emailed a PDF file created by the architect; this showed the exact position of each and every tile. However, there was no summery of how many tiles were required or the area covered by each tile.
In order to ascertain the required quantities we set the PDF as a background image in the Callidus program and plotted out the perimeter of each zone, tea point and meeting area.
We then had to enter in each of the different materials that were to be used. This would normally be a very simple task, however for this job we had to establish the pattern repeats for each zone before entering them into the system, once done we then positioned the starting point and direction for the patterns in each zone so they exactly copied the architects plan, finally we instructed the system to quantify the plans.
The end result is a detailed plan listing the net and gross quantities for each material and area. This allowed us to order the correct amount of material and gave us the net areas required to precisely calculate our labour allowances.
Below you can view the architects plan and the drawings and quantities produced by our estimator using the Callidus system (PDF format):
1 - Original PDF from architect
2 - Architects PDF set as a background in the Callidus system after the areas have been plotted, materials inserted and quantities calculated.
3 - Background PDF removed showing only the details that have been created by our estimator and the Callidus system.
